All That Glitters

The idea of luxury is a complex one. Is it to do with defining our social class as we tick off the luxury scorecard or is it far more personal? Although Australia appears to have faired better than many other first world economies during the GFC there are still many individuals and families who are struggling, and luxury, especially blatant in your face decadent luxury has always been a volatile social ingredient. It is against this backdrop and the overlay of an increasingly polarised society, that we consider the meaning and relevance of luxury.
