This year the UNO Christmas Lunch was held at Le Bon Ton, a New Orleans-inspired oyster saloon, smokehouse, cocktail bar and absinthe den. Le Bon Ton is located in a huge building on the site of the old Glasshouse Hotel, with a fascinating interior consisting of exposed brick walls, chandeliers, candles, reproduction Renaissance art and recycled timber furniture.
After a morning of avoiding snacking, the team headed up to Gipps St, Collingwood to eat (and drink) our way through the afternoon.
UNO HQ has been buzzing this week in anticipation of the traditional UNO Christmas party. Eagerly awaiting the 18th, team members had been preparing their minds… and stomachs, for the feast ahead. Scheduled to kick off at noon, the team was ready to enjoy the spoils of KONG – a Korean and Japanese fusion restaurant located on the lower end of Church Street, towards the Chapel st end of Richmond. Created by Chris Lucas, the founder of such Melbourne iconic restaurants as Chin Chins and Baby Pizza, KONG has certainly created a buzz in the Melbourne community since its introduction in May 2014, and the UNO team was excited to check it out.
After missing out on last years Sydney Indesign event due to a busy work schedule, the team was eager to ensure they did not miss out on what 2014 had to offer. With the Melbourne leg set to be held from the 22nd – 23rd of August, the UNO team decided to set out Friday afternoon to soak up the sun and see what the Melbourne design landscape had to offer.
The UNO design team took some time out this week to view the Ulm School of Design at RMIT university. The exhibition, which opened on the 1st of August looks at Ulm design. Included in the exhibition was the Braun record player created by Dieter Rams & Hans Gugelot, 1956 (shown above with our beautiful product design team), an iconic piece in the industrial design landscape.
With joy in the air and the excitement of Christmas just around the corner, the UNO team set off for its annual Christmas party of 2013. Kicking off at around lunchtime, the buzz in the office was electric as we waited for our transport to arrive – like a group of kids salivating at the chance of opening their present on Christmas morning.
Just around the corner on Balmain St our new studio is currently under construction. Here are a selection of images captured over the past 6 months.
